My freelance clients include Stauer (for their line of catalog-order jewelry), Marvel Comics (back cover copy), DC Entertainment (Special Projects). I also handled all press and social media for small publisher Hermes Press from 2011-2012, getting their books reviewed in publications and websites MTV Geek, The Village Voice, and LA Times.
Writer and Editor
With my photographer partner, launched Graphic NYC, a website that features magazine-style profile essays and portraits of comic book creators. Launched in early 2008, Graphic NYC has been noted in such major publications as New York Times, LA Times, and Wired. GNYC launched two separate book projects: Graphic NYC Presents Dean Haspiel (IDW) and Leaping Tall Buildings: The Origins of American Comics) powerHouse Books).
Coordinating with store buyers and vendors, wrote consistent web copy for several product categories, including Blu-Ray players, home entertainment, and MP3 players. When I came on at Circuit City, I overhauled the entire set of categories. I also maintained consistency and quality of products on store website through proprietary Content Management System and worked with HTML and graphics.

I wrote direct mail for print and online campaigns for various colleges and universities and also conceived and edited fulfillment packages for students
Working as the sole employee of this small publisher, I proofed magazines and books and coordinated with a group of editors and contributors. I also handleed all trade show and convention appearances and sales, while also contributing to TwoMorrows' digital presence by producing an NPR style podcast for the company’s website and fielding review copies of their books and magazines.

As an expert in the American comic book, have written and edited several books on the topic, including Leaping Tall Buildings: The Origins of American Comics, which was just featured in news outlets L.A. Times and Wired. I have also appeared as an on-air consultant for both 20/20 and 48 Hrs. Mystery.

Graduated with honors. Thesis topic was "An Evolution of Masks: Batman's Ever-Changing Sexuality," which paralleled gay rights and the sexual revolution with Batman's own sexual evolution in the comic books and television show.
