Cheryl Molnar’s painted collage works are an ongoing investigation of the landscape and man’s manipulation of nature. Her current body of work has been influenced by her visits to botanical gardens, arboreta, and parks, such as the New York Botanical Garden; Planting Fields in Oyster Bay, NY; and Old Westbury Gardens in Old Westbury, NY. During her time at Wave Hill, she will draw inspiration from the Palisades view and winter plants around the garden and illustrate them through her collage work. She has had solo exhibitions at Smack Mellon, Brooklyn, NY; Joseph Gross Gallery, University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ; and McCaig-Welles Gallery, Brooklyn, NY. Her work has also been featured in group shows at the Islip Art Museum, Islip, NY; Art Bridge, New York, NY; White Walls Gallery, San Francisco, CA; Speak and Bherd, Seattle, WA; Pots Gallery, Seattle, WA; Caren Golden Fine Art, New York, NY; and Tribes Gallery, New York, NY. Molnar has participated in residencies at The Cooper Union, New York, NY; Weir Farm, Wilton, CT; and Smack Mellon, Brooklyn, NY.
