My great joy is painting our natural world in all of its beauty from the magnificent outback, to the majestic rain forests. The many and varied birds and animals are a delight to see and I love to paint them in their natural environment.
I love the weather of Australia from the cold winters with the rising mists, frosts and fogs to the hot, hot summers where you retreat into the shade of the great forests. The subjects I paint are varied from landscapes, wildlife, farm animals, buildings, houses, properties and portraits.
I enjoy painting in watercolour, mixed media, acrylics and oils and I paint to portray the emotional response that I feel about my subject. I love it when the viewer connects to the piece they are viewing. I know I have been successful in portraying what I felt at that time when they do.
I love colour and my paintings embrace the joy I feel when I am out in the Australian countryside working alongside my husband breeding cattle. It is the little things that inspire me, a sunbeam lit up through the clouds, a scene that is touched with golden light, the colours of Australia, the reds, ochres, blues and greens. The dust billowing behind the cattle as we take them back to their paddocks, our ever faithful dogs that block the most stubborn beasts. These are my painting subjects; my life.
