Maria Loreto Caro-Valdes worked as a journalist & television producer in her home country,Chile, before she decided to pursue a filmmaking career in the US. While studying, she participated in the First Latino Writers Workshop organized by the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival and she was invited to teach screenwriting, producing and directing at the University Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala. Also, she received the Warren Skaaren Endowed Presidential Scholarship for excellence in fiction-filmmaking and was recipient of the Texas Film Production Fund grants for the completion of her thesis. In 2005 she obtained an MFA in Film Production at the Radio-TV-Film Department, University of Texas at Austin. She is now working as an audiovisual consultant at the Entre Niños Foundation and as a professor at the Universidad UNIACC in Santiago, Chile. Recently she received a grant from the Fondo de Fomento Audiovisual in order to write her third feature-length script "Bajorrelieve". Read Less
