Macy's display window design

Macy's gave me the task to design its Holiday Window Display in their Miami Beach store. When I saw the space, I thought this was a great opportunity to experiment with typography. This year I have worked on a lot of typography projects, trying to take them out of a display or a sketch book into a 3D level using different materials. I decided to design the Macy's window display with these bases and using the words "give" and "believe" (macy's promo word) I created the display using pins and over 6,300 yards of thread. I believe these materials and the way they were used allowed to create an effect that emphasized and placed greater attention on the words and the holiday spirit.

enjoy

Typography nowadays is a key element in graphic design, and has stopped from being just the medium where text is to be imputed, and changed into a primordial element into all graphic work.

The overall idea behind my work, is to expose audiences to a particular idea through the power of typography and demonstrate how it could communicate and represent outside of the usual screen and print based forms.

These words will be representative of words used or related to the advertising campaigns of products widely consumed by society but harmful and destructive in nature. Such words will consist of a fragment, or will be thoroughly related to the product, but in its turn the materials used in the composition of it will reveal the opposite, and will expose the “truth”.
