Hi I am Byron Conn, 20 years old, and am currently a third year Woodworking and Furniture design undergraduate student in the School of American Crafts at Rochester Institute of Technology. I have a very strong passion for woodworking and furniture design as well as sharing that passion. Thanks to Rich Tannen, Andy Buck, and Richard Newman my formal teaching in woodworking has helped me gather more information about woodworking and I have always had a desire to share that knowledge as well as continue to learn as much as possible.
Craftsmanship is very important to me and drives most of my work. I am always trying to push my skills and process to the next level and further my abilities. Every project I make is entirely my own, from the design process to the milling, joinery, carving, and finishing. Although I use many power tools my go-to is almost always hand tools.
Currently my inspiration comes primarily from nature, more specifically the ocean. The translation of this inspiration into my work is minute but still considered. It is important to me as a designer that, for the majority of the time, the abstraction of my inspiration is not readily visible.
All of my work is for sale upon request and I am always willing to work with you if there is something specific in mind. All ideas are welcome please do not hesitate to get in contact with me for any reason. Read Less
