Brooke received a BFA with a focus on sculpture and painting from the University of Texas at Austin in 2006. While at UT, she traveled to Italy on full scholarship where she visited the Venice Biennale, studied the art of Rome, Florence and Milan. Upon return, she was granted a fellowship to finish her first large-scale installation.

Her current work, a series of sculptural light boxes, has been displayed at Blue
Star Contemporary Art Space in San Antonio, Austin City Hall,
GSD&M during SXSW, and is part of the permanent collection at milk+honey spa in downtown Austin.
She is also the Membership Coordinator for the Texas Sculpture Group, an official chapter to the International Sculpture Center created to support contemporary sculpture in Texas.

In my current series of light boxes, layers of material are set in a deep wooden box with an internal light source. It is by illumination that the works reveal their multi-faceted characters as forms appear, change and disappear. The light and shadow dictates the significance within the composition as well as reveals the internal realm of the box-- a miniature space to peer into.

Within each box, found materials such as porcelain figurines, shirt collars, fur, old tools, and textiles of varying texture and opacity, evoke feelings that are normally sensed but not seen. Often contents of the box seem familiar, reminding the viewer of their previous relationships with the objects.

Because this medium, the light box, remains consistent in my work, I am able explore a range of ideas while creating a unified body of work. Although they vary, some recurring themes are; ritual, the media, accessibility/denial of sensation, and rites of passage in American culture.
