The work of Kevin Bongang is reminiscent of Jean-Michel Basquiat except Kevin’s work is intentional and thought out. His illustrations consist of stories inside of stories that may not be a story at all. It very well might just be an arrangement of characters with a lot of different things going on. With that his work can never be stagnant. When you look long enough at Kevin Bongang’s work, you begin to see things emerge from the background and even from other character. His images are not to merely glance at, you have to study them and create a personal conclusion as to what is or could be happening, and this is a deliberate and intentional technique. His lines are clean and well thought out, colors he choses are great but even when translated into black and white they work just as well. Ultimately his work is like a physiological test that you only take if you have internal issues that you didn’t realize you had until they manifested because the art work.
