Artist Statement
The human body as a vehicle for discourse:

"The human body has a story to tell. Mute, contorted, fluid, or standing rigid, upright, and at attention; every nuance and line weaves a tale. Colour, light, shadow, composition, planes, space and ground relationships further examined offer hints and fragments of an unfolding story. The eyes have a legendary reputation of offering a glimpse of confrontation with an individual’s soul. Historically speaking, the gaze for-tells a person’s place within a societal hierarchical structure. Lines and scars upon the skin portray seared gestures of memento mori. Flesh, mass, bones, muscle, trace and give evidence of activity, emptiness, strength, emotion, time, and restraint. Communication is evident even without words; the body has plenty to say through a gesture alone. Through the application of Pictoral Semiotics one is further propelled to investigate and project meaning onto an image, thus holding a mirror to ones Self; furthering connection with humanities fables and provide further structure to our own myths and stories. We see what we are; we draw from experience and define ourselves through our actions and choices, weaving our own personal piece of fiction. The story is ours to write; the story is ours to tell. Fact or fiction (our own personal fairytale); the body provides the key to the mirror plane of the human, or is it the soul's condition".
