Blouzaat is a cross-cultural, cross-media project, started in 2007 by a group of artists, designers and type enthusiasts from Jordan and Germany.

Exploring urban art and design through canvas, walls, silkscreen, clothing, and books, Blouzaat’s intention is to add to the urban art in the scene by tapping into culture, music, and any other form of self expression. Blouzaat is a visual and intellectual investigation of cultural dynamics, aimed at introducing a hybrid unknown entity that is the result of a combustion of Arab and Western cultures, through the use of multi-lingual typography, mutated indigenous clichés and newborn identities native only to Blouzaat.

Throughout the past few years Blouzaat has matured into a more critical, subtle version of itself. A core team of two stand behind the self-reflecting, contemplative Blouzaat that today presents a subdued, searing commentary on the bitter world it finds itself in. Using art and design as a medium to explore social constructs and political influences, across borders and ethnicities, Blouzaat maintains its stance on the vitality of design and urban art as visualization of the cynicism, wariness and acidic humor of our communities today.
