I'm a digital photographer but with a fondness for images that simulate the old beauty of film. My photos ground me and my art in reality, finding meaning where it is often missed, or creating one. I like to take photographs of things that people don’t often notice or appreciate fully, the “beauty in the mundane.” I photograph a variety of subjects, most notably landscapes and the scenes from a girl’s life in the South. Many of these scenes are self portraits. Nature and dilapidation also inspire me.

My photography has been featured in several print and online publications, and many online blogs. I have also been featured in a group exhibition at the Basil Hallward Gallery, and on the cover of a book published by Simon & Schuster.

My illustrations form from the simple fantasies of the mind, untethered and boundless. I draw girls that possess a haunting Lolita-esque allure with the goal of capturing (as well as it can be captured) the mysterious allure of girls, even if just for a fleeting moment. Since most of them only exist in my mind, I tend to never let them change, but instead they stay forever young, forever beautiful, and forever unaware of their own power. My range extends from innocent, sweet and childlike, to provocative and violent. I am influenced by numerous anime styles, primitivism (child-like and folk art), and surrealism.

I also enjoy drawing things that can be both humorous and comforting, because there can never be too much of either. I think of my cats as guardians to the wayward and sullen girls I draw. They help me (and them) stay balanced through my more serious works. Read Less
