Great feedback! The questions you posed/ observed about the relatioships between the artist/ designer/ media/ and audience are quite poignant.

DeleteRobert Ferrell, 09-04-09 i can't legitimately claim non-bias... but there is NO form, no words, nothing that can reach masses without being biased in one particular form or another. I felt like the NUMBERLESS, as an over arching theme was relatively neutral, but requiring people to use LESS in their word, I admit wasn't. Even if the individual created the word with the intent, when people read it, it's initally percieved as negative. By bypassing media, I mean the news... that's the only way we at home know wtf is going on. And it's 30 sec perfectly scripted/ compacted newsclips, that brush some issues to the side, glorify others, etc. I just wanted a forum that soldiers could anonymously contribute to (given they don't even have the freedom to speak freely about it), and civilians can read/ participate also. Granted most of the civilians are ignorant, and more heavily influenced by the bombings on the news, and have no idea what the hell is going on. It created an interesting, indirect... non-linear/ non bias dialogue. When you read the book, it's just people talking, and the form i created becomes relatively invisible.

yo, thanks for the comment. The intent of the piece was to make people think... the challenge was to find a way to have the piece unified. So, on the decision of "less" I think it's naive to think people are going to whimsically sacrifice their personal opinions/ experiences because of the form I constructed for them to participate in. Words given to me like, lessfighting, lessselfishness, lesstotalitarian, limitless, etc., at face-value are positive. Also, It's hard to really take meaning from the words as you see them, without reading the individuals explanations... some scathe only the media, some are talking about deficit issues...

This is shit Ben! http://www.behance.net/Gallery/Some-abstract-forms/198359 This cockhead totally steals Reece Polain's artwork and use in many of his pieces. Also the Amphesium we made in 2007.
