Ara Hovsepyan, born in Burbank, CA in 1989, holds a master's degree in urban design from Columbia University (Ms.AUD '13) and a bachelor of architecture from Woodbury University (B.Arch '12). In 2011, his project 'Architecture 50k' designed in collaboration with Arthur Badalian was chosen to represent Woodbury in the annual 2x8 Competition exhibited at the A&D Museum, alongside projects from other LA schools including Sci-Arc, UCLA, and USC, which earned him a scholarship award from the AIA. Also in 2011, Ara Hovsepyan was Woodbury's Grand Critique Student Choice winner, appointed by his peers, which granted him the honor to present his body of academic work to the school. His initial interest in architecture grew from interests in music, namely playing the piano, and the fine arts, namely oil and acrylic painting and freehand drawing, prior to studying at the university level.
