Andrew Begg has established himself as a first class innovative thinker with an enviable track record working on some of Australia’s biggest brands to prove it. With the end goal of establishing his own agency, Andrew vigorously pursued a career that saw him rise from Art Director to Agency Principal in just ten years. Along the way he collected many creative awards including two SILVER MEDALS in the 1992 Lotus Awards in Canada, a New York Festival GOLD MEDAL in 1998 (Tooheys) and his Freedom Furniture campaign won awards globally.
Andrew has held senior creative positions in Canada’s Ad Agency of the Year, Cossette. For three years he worked on some of Canada’s biggest brands (SAAB, Isuzu, Coca Cola, Molson Breweries & British Colombia Tourism) out of the Cossette Vancouver & Toronto offices.
Returning to Australia in 1994, Andrew spent two years at Magnum Opus Advertising before being headhunted to Saatchi & Saatchi Melbourne. Working with Creative Director Rob Belgiovane, Andrew developed highly successful campaigns for Dunlop Bedding, Red Rooster & Toyota (Chicken). When Rob Belgiovane started his own agency in Sydney he invited Andrew to join Belgiovane Williams Mackay to work on a group of major national brand clients. This was a great opportunity for Andrew who created the award winning Freedom Furniture campaign “Think outside the square you live in”. Other major campaign achievements were the launch of the CSR IPO “Don’t say sugar, Say CSR” and Citroen, Suzuki, Alfa automotive brands.
Perhaps the most significant event to occur in Andrew’s career to date, and the biggest challenge, was his decision to accept an invitation from Brazin Ltd’s MD, Brett Blundy, to establish Sanity.com Limited and list the company on the Australia Stock Exchange. The IPO raised over $17 million. Andrew was fortunate to report directly to Brazin Ltd Managing Director, Brett Blundy. For three years Andrew worked assiduously to develop the online and real world strategies that would generate retail sales and shareholder value. This involved an intimate working relationship with the 260 Sanity Music Stores and the Board of Brazin Ltd. Andrew also negotiated working relationships with strategic alliance partners Microsoft, Telstra, NineMSN, ARN/APN, and others. Sanity.com.au became the No 1. E-commece / Enterialnment site in Australia after 7 months. At its peak the share price reached $2.40 prior to the NASDAQ crash.
Andrew created Traffic Pty Ltd in February 2002. Read Less
