An alumnus of MIT, Amna takes a research approach to her understanding of urbanism and built form as a means of exchange between discrete systems and physical intervention.

Her design objective is a product of her direct experience within a varied professional, academic and cultural environment. She began her studies in Houston, and continued them in Vienna, where she studied under Wolf Prix of Coop Himmelblau at the Angewandte Kunst Wien. Later, she received the ‘Honor Design Award’ for her undergraduate thesis ‘Morphing Units of Density’ and elaborated upon her subject matter of internal density while working in Shanghai as a Project Designer on large-scale international architectural and planning projects. As a Project Designer at Powers Brown Architecture, her portfolio of industrial, commercial and public projects contributed to a number of AIA design awards including a 2012 award for garage design for an Intermodal Hub. Her leadership in competitions resulted in a 2010 AIA DC unbuilt design award, and an exhibition at the National Building Museum in Washington DC. Read Less
