In the mid-1990s, I self-released a number of projects under the Tinty Music name, mostly on cassette. Most of these were of my own work, but I occasionally collaborated with others (Vincent Booth, :YAU:, Interference Patterns, Bill Horist).

In 2014, I have begun working with the recordings in the Tinty Music archives to prepare some of the original cassette releases for reissue as digital downloads. This work encompasses audio editing and mastering, graphic design (for the PDF booklets and/or graphics accompanying each album), image acquisition and editing, copywriting and copy editing, and such mundane tasks as note-taking, file management, and archiving.

My two main tasks were to edit the audio recording of an interview conducted by phone, and to copy edit a couple of documents.

The audio editing task involved combining two interviews into one, and removing audio glitches, extra pauses, and verbal stumbles to make the interview ready for possible use in a future podcast.

The copy editing task involved an annual report for one of the foundation's specific projects (and included some graphic design/layout revisions), as well as the report from a 2014 event. (Work on the latter item is expected to resume later on; it was interrupted when the foundation began preparing for a major conference taking place in April 2016.)

I provided graphic design and audiobook support—including, but not necessarily limited to, designing and/or refining e-book covers and print collateral; and evaluating, editing, and assembling audiobook files. I also did proofreading and light editing.

I produce layouts for several articles each month; these articles are then inserted into the print edition of the magazine by the Creative Director (with appropriate adjustments to incorporate changes in advertising content before publication).

This work includes photo selection (when several images were provided for an article), image editing and CMYK conversion, and stock photo research (as needed); plus I provide a last line of defense of sorts by checking each article for any uncorrected errors in the copy.

In mid-2010, I designed the CD digipak, booklet, and label for the band's debut album, Friends of the Old Mill. Four-year degree covering three years of Japanese language study, plus a year of Japanese literature (via English translations), and the usual basic college requirements. Nothing exceptional here, quite frankly. At the time I graduated, I wasn't very conversational, but I was fairly comfortable with the written language—which led to jobs in Tokyo as a translator of written materials into English.
