I studied writing at the University of Victoria upon graduating but in my 3rd year I accepted an invitation to South America and ended up going for several years of travel there and through North America and Europe. I studied photography in Victoria and assisted some while living in London, England before going out on my own. I was influenced by photographers like Wolfgang Tillmans ( my first photo book ), Anton Corbijn, Robert Doisneau, Juergen Teller, Nan Goldin, Weegee, Anders Peterson, Helmut Newton. I love working. And I love spending time with interesting people.

Mainly I have been working this year as an advertising photographer photographing people in the midst of real situations. I am very comfortable meeting new people and work relatively light so I am not a very intimidating or obvious presence in situations that call for finding real moments.
I enjoy setting up situations but I am very uninterested in creating phony emotion.
I also work with a lot of different magazines including Spin, Fader, Nylon, Monocle, Swindle, Fashion, Flare, Forbes... and many others. Mainly I photograph people or bands for them.
