Born in Dubai, Elie has worked and studied in UAE, Lebanon and Germany. He holds a BFA in Graphic Design from the American University of Beirut. He has also done his summer internship at Linotype, which carries on a 120 year old heritage in Latin and Arabic type design. There, he worked under Nadine Chahine, an award- winning Lebanese type designers.
His multi-disciplinary scope of work focuses on cross-cultural visual communication. He has a special interest in Arabic typography/ calligraphy and aims to enhance the Arabic typographic scene by further exploring the letterform and its applications. Through documenting and collecting elements from the vernacular, he tries to integrate these daily aspects through his design concepts.
