Born in Montreal, Andrea Gonzalez studied industrial design before branching out to pursue a degree in graphic design at the Université du Québec à Montréal. It was during a 2009 trip to Berlin that, being set free, Andrea’s illustrations came to adopt the pseudonym Zang. Andrea’s work is characterized on the one hand by somewhat malaise-provoking, if not disturbing, representations. On the flipside are her depictions of the everyday, trivial events of life. Humour is the element that permeates all of her imagery. In 2011, her work was notably featured in Urbania magazine and at Pop Montreal. Andrea lives and works in Montreal, returning each year to her inspirational roots in Berlin.

Originaire de Montréal, Andrea Gonzalez a fait des études en design industriel pour ensuite poursuivre des études en design graphique à l'Université du Québec à Montréal. C'est en 2009 à Berlin, dans un contexte déjanté, que l'illustration d'Andrea s'est déployée sous le pseudonyme de Zang. Son travail se caractérise d'une part par la représentation de situations évocatrices d'un malaise, souvent choquantes , et d'autre part de contextes quotidiens triviaux. L'imagerie conserve somme toute une facture humoristique, caractéristique de son illustration. Son travail a notamment été présenté en 2011 dans la revue Urbania ainsi qu'à M pour Montréal la même année. Andrea vit et travaille à Montréal, et se ressource chaque année à Berlin.
