Reconstruction and design of the first studio for graphic design and moulding in the Technical University of Sofia
Story: This studio started as a self financed idea from us – the students in the Technical University of Sofia. It all started in one of the dorm’s demolished reading rooms that we wanted to reconstruct and redesign into a studio for graphic design, technical drawing and moulding. After one year of renovation the place, the process was stopped by the university because of change in dorm’s plans. The room that we were renovating was changed into a regular room for students to live in. This brought us back to the beginning. Without a place and finances we had to search for new ways how to make the first studio for the students of Engineering design in the university. The full understanding about building the studio came from the University Student Council. They offered us place and finances to make our idea from blueprints into reality.
The place from the Student Council was totally different from the first one. Everything had to be done from the beginning. The concept, reconstruction, furnishing, graphic design and typography were left for us to decide how it will be. We had to fit three processes /graphic design, technical drawing and moulding/ into 15,3 square meters. All the furniture and other elements had to be compact, simple, easy to use and multifunctional.

In a situation of low annual budget for all the universities in the country we are proud with the realisation of the first students’ studio for graphic design and moulding in the Technical University of Sofia.
