Tania Whiteley is an award winning South African illustrator and designer. She completed her graphic design degree at the University of Johannesburg and graduated with Cum Laude in 2008.
Tania was merited with the top student award in both 2007 and 2008. She has also been recognised as a winner at the annual Loerie Awards in 2008 and received sponsorship for participation as an Emerging Creative at the 12th International Design Indaba, held in Cape Town in 2009. Her project, 'the BIG idea' won in 2 categories of the Annual Loerie Awards in September '09.
Her inspiration and influences include contemporary art, graffiti and postmodern visual culture. Executions are fresh and unexpected, combining digital media with an illustrative, hand-crafted edge. Her quirky ideas are strengthened by a rich sense of warmth and personality which forms a common thread through all of her work.
Tania lectures design at Lisof, a fashion design college in Johannesburg, South Africa and also freelances as an illustrator and graphic designer. She is also completing her Masters degree in Information Design at the University of Pretoria.
