Welcome to my on-line portfolio, my name is Todd S. Marshall, and I am a senior concept artist and paleontological-life illustrator. I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked in the entertainment industry for over the last 23+ years as a specialist in 2D art (traditional and digital). My specialties in entertainment lay mostly, but not only, in sci-fi and horror genres; working on character and creature creation (I can however, create whatever is needed… from environments, vehicles, weapons, props, skins, textures and others). In those years I’ve had the pleasure of having worked with major record labels, top Hollywood special effects companies, and AAA digital gaming companies (for the last 11+years). As a professional paleo-artist; I’ve been reconstructing prehistoric animals for multi-media including academic science, numerous major publications, major film studios, television specials, documentaries around the world, and featured original art for natural history museums also worldwide.
My education includes a BA in illustration and fine arts from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, one of the world’s most prestigious art institutions. I was mentored at Stan Winston’s Special Effects Studio in Los Angeles, California, by their (former) Senior Concept Designer, Mark “Crash” McCreery, one of the greatest motion picture concept artists of our time.
I’ve been awarded “The John J. Lanzendorf Award: for Best 2D Paleo-Illustrator of 2005”, by the international society, the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology (SVP). The highest honor a professional paleo-artist can achieve.
In the digital gaming industry I’ve been a Lead Artist with 6 released titles at Sunstorm Inc., Art Director for Sinister Games Inc. (an Ubi Soft studio), and Senior Concept Artist at Volition Inc. (a THQ studio); working on next generation AAA titles such as Saints Row, Red Faction: Guerrilla, and now in June 2011; Red Faction Armageddon, and creature designer for major film director Guillermo del Toro’s: “InSANE”. I’m proud of my strong leadership skills; I’m use to fostering, teaching, and mentoring younger artists. I’m use to working on tight deadlines, and producing the highest quality art assets. Read Less
