Stephen was born in the picturesque city of Bath to a
British opera-trained mother and German ex-rockbandguitarist
father. Although proclaiming at age five to
family friends that he wanted to be a ‘rockstar’ when he
grew up, it wasn’t until his late teens that he found out
that he could actually sing.
Without any traditional vocal training, Stephen started
performing with indie and jazz bands in Bath, before
being convinced to train towards an audition for the
Guildhall School of Music and Drama. At seventeen,
Stephen became the youngest baritone ever to win a
place at this prestigious college.
After three years of studying classical voice and
electronic music at Guildhall, he left to pursue a career
in sales and marketing with a number of international
technology firms, whilst writing music in his home studio
in the evenings with help from friends in the pop group
‘Tears for Fears’.
Stephen completed his first studio album of songs in the summer of 2004, whilst developing work as a voiceover artist and becoming involved with a number of entrepreneurial projects linking music artist and private investors. In 2007 Stephen linked up with Guildhall colleague Oliver Baines and two other singers, to create the harmony group BLAKE, which has gone on to sell over a million records worldwide, has been nominated for two BRIT awards and one a BRIT for best album, and had number albums in 3 countries (UK, Australia and South Africa) simultaneously. Currently a managing partner in BLAKE - Infinity Records, a joint venture with EMI, Universal and Typhoon records worldwide, to market and distribute the Blake catalog and new releases. Stephen is currently working with US song writers (including Diane Warren) and producers, on a record specifically for the US market, due for release in February 2012. As part of BLAKE, Stephen tours globally and enjoys the music industry as both an artist and business entrepreneur. In spare time Stephen enjoys skiing, motorbiking and learning to play polo, along with spending as much time as possible with family. Read Less
