During my time with Cards Inc/Corgi I was responsible and accountable for managing my own projects, going ahead with my own initiative making sure personal and business objectives were met in a timely manner, reporting my progress and visuals to management and welcoming criticism. I thoroughly enjoy developing ideas and gain satisfaction in seeing projects through from initial concepts to finished product. I have also built on this vastly in my time being self-employed.

I am a very enthusiastic and dedicated concept artist/designer with a passion and a flair for design. During my academic career I studied several art classes ranging from life drawing to computer-aided design, developing skills using many creative methods. I take pride in my ability to utilize design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark, InDesign) to get the best possible results as well as being able to develop high quality, hand drawn visuals. I like to express myself in everything I do.

Work Experience

Cards Inc

Main duties included:

• I joined Cards Inc as an Illustrator to help reduce the workload for the current staff.
• Not long after getting employed I helped recruit another member of staff to work along side me in a similar role.
• Responsible for the concept, design and tracking of 3D product for the film and TV industry.
• Not long after starting employment I personally developed a new way to produce the concept art that was passed onto clients and licensors.
• The job involved me to move forward with my own initiative whilst staying within the boundaries of a brief. During the process I would liaise with fellow colleagues, sometimes planning efficient workloads to meet deadlines.
• I helped secure a major license boosting revenue for the company whilst succeeding in rebranding a much-loved trademark.
• Tracked work through every stage of the process scrutinizing the product and making sure that any necessary changes were met with accuracy and on time.
• As the workload became heavier I assisted with packaging design, which involved working closely with the marketing and sales team as well as pursuing my own research.
• My role eventually progressed into a more graphic based role, which called for the concept and production of logos, product branding, magazine layouts, in-house newsletters and packaging design.

Additional Responsibilities:

• High-resolution photography for packaging, product development and personal reference.
• Painting samples to a very high standard to aid mass-production.
• Extensive testing of product, requesting the aid of consumers within the age range of a product to gain the best results for the research.
• Traveling to movie set’s to acquire reference materials and resources for product we were working on. I was also one of a few that got to read scripts to gain further knowledge on the brief in hand.
• Appearing at movie premiers to help promote our company’s product, gain new contacts and enhance old working relationships.
• The company had stands at various exhibitions that I would help merchandise. I also worked on the stands keeping them tidy and presentable whilst promoting the company.
• One of my personal gratifications was when the company put together an entire exhibition for the 30-year anniversary of the well-known movie franchise Star Wars. During this exhibition I was responsible for keeping control of queuing systems at the signing booths, working the Master Replica stall, keeping track of events throughout the day and being chaperone to VIP guests and visitors.
