Bio
My name is Bruno and I was born in Lisbon, Portugal and raised in Massachusetts. My day to day was spent with supersoakers and G.I Joe’s
until a comic shop opened a few blocks away from my home and from then on it was impossible to spend 2 days without going there and staring
at all the covers and starting a small collection that lasts to this day. A passion for comics, illustration and type was born. I eventually moved back to Portugal and started taking art classes that led to a degree in graphic design a few years later. During this period I started doodling as a way to release the tension of still life drawing. This colorful and spontaneous drawing style was very addictive and I started making little stickers out of
my sketches but the hassle of cutting them mixed with a lack of patience made me put the stickies aside and started doing more durable stuff like paste ups and gradually paintings murals. One thing led to another and now I try to develop an aesthetic based on colorful creations made with continuous lines that make up the composition by interlacing themselves. My work isn’t easy to perceive which is something that pleases me, I enjoy using a language that rubs shoulder to shoulder with abstraction when in fact there is allot going on there. So I hope you have the time to have a close look at my work and enjoy it.
I have moved away from painting murals a bit and just do it when I need to turn my mind off for a few hours, there is nothing like looking for an abandoned spot, exploring it and finding the perfect wall to add a little life to a place that is dead by grabbing a spray can and just letting the
color flow.
I now live in Lisbon, temporarily, with my girlfriend and lunatic golden retriever Indie.
Thank you for you time.
