Padraic Driscoll currently works as a graphic designer in New York City. He completed his BA from the University of Pittsburgh in Studio Arts and History of Art and Architecture, graduating magna cum laude. With 7 years experience in graphic, motion, and web design, as well as photo and video production, he brings a diverse theoretical and technical background to his projects. As an artist, his work focuses inwardly upon notions of human existence and endeavor, ambiguity and feelings of ambivalence.

Padraic’s work transcends many mediums including drawing, installation, photography, and various digital media. Recently, the works 1-19838 and 19839-37617 were on display at Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as part of the 97th Annual of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. Read Less

Drawn to notions of compassion and universality out of personal reflection, I feel a sense of beauty in the face of the recognition of the world’s increasing complexity, our finiteness as beings and the vastness of the universe. From observation of the concurrent beauty, ease, horror and difficulty that rise out of human endeavor and behavior (ever present in a globalized world), I recognize myself as an unintentionally dualistic functioning catalyst, within the infinitely complex system that is our existence. I then come to form conflicted suppositions based around the hopeful and yet dystopic idiosyncrasies of ourselves in our place relative to both each other and the larger universe.

I explore these reflections largely via electronic or installation oriented media in works that are the result of a conceptual process. The goal of my work is to instill a greater and more humble awareness of ourselves and the universe we occupy.

My work is inspired by a diverse group of individuals including Henry David Thoreau, Wassily Kandinsky, Carl Sagan, Godfrey Reggio, Zdzislaw Beksinski, Vija Celmins and Jonathan Borofsky. Read Less
