Niekolaas Johannes Lekkerkerk can be seen as an artistic enterprise that was started in July 2008, it is the covering name for several creative divisions such as artworks, book projects and curatorial practice. We work with different media but foremost with painting, photography, stenciling and video. The subjects we take on differ from project to project, but some of the main inspirations come from (frustrations as) subgroups, cultural and ecological tendencies, hierarchy, the human image / appearance, the contemporary city and how mass-media responds to all the before mentioned subjects. We work from a very conceptual basis, a project develops not from process and work, but from a set out plan or script. A certain work or project will only be worked out if everything is unanimously agreed upon. The medium and the formalistic aspects are of a lesser priority than the concept, the physical state of the work is the carrier for the concept, not vice versa.
