My purpose for being a Content/Copy Writer is to inform and entice people in order to drive sales; as someone once said, “People don’t buy what they really want; they buy what they desperately want.” Aspiring to write “desperation-inducing” content is my upmost goal.
What I want to do for a company is to engage consumers with pertinent and persuasive messages targeted to customer acquisition and retention. The goal is that they take action--action to buy and keep on buying your product(s).
I possess retail experience so I understand marketing from different angles (as with point of sale, and from an advertising angle). I want to leverage my mix of skills to create solutions that address, connect, and stir the target audience.
How can I help a company to grow? Does your copy drive the sales that you’re looking for? I have a proven record of corporate revenues generation. While at Hotels.com, I participated in a one-month revenue tracking project for a list of non-sale properties; overall:
• Selected properties showed +10% increase in transactions whereas the total site experienced +5% increase in transactions.
• Selected properties showed +11% increase in conversion whereas the total site experienced +1% increase in conversion.
Per my descriptions tracked during the period:
• The Hyatt Regency Cleveland showed a +300% gain in transactions.
• The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa showed a +92% gain in transactions.
• The Hyatt Regency Cleveland showed a +405% increase in conversion.
• The Sheraton Albuquerque showed a +51% increase in conversion.
I was also often commended by my manager at Hotels.com for my quality of work as a writer: I wrote the 5-star property description then being used as the training example for new writers/associate writers. While at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, I received an excellent performance review and achieved the top bonus available for my position.
I’m passionate about what I do and want to support your organization in making its content goals a reality.
In my last position, I supported the New Development Center (NDC), a division of the Information Technology Group at Health Care Services Corporation. As part of the company’s Enterprise Marketing & Sales Team, I was responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining an array of internal and external marketing communications. Included were websites, newsletters, demos, brochures, release notes, and program corporate briefs.
As the primary author for NDC News, I researched, wrote, and edited articles publicizing the performance of the New Development Center area’s enterprise projects. I served as the Team Lead/Creative Director for a multi-media Business Acquisition CD-ROM demo series, and also created and maintained content for NDC’s suite of intranet websites.
In my previous position, I was a Content Writer for Hotels.com and produced Internet copy based on submitted infosite forms, Internet research, and on photographs received. I received 'Description of the Week' and the Hotels.com Benny's Business Review Newsletter 'Hotel Picks of the Month' distinctions.
I have a solid grasp of grammar and spelling; possess proofreading and editorial skills; and am versed in making sure content is clean, error-free, and up-to-date. I also have ingenuity and aesthetic discernment. I'm proficient in a PC environment, have previously worked in Mac, and am familiar with HTML.
I'm creative, energetic and enthusiastic about writing. What I like to do is to keep it exciting, make it inviting, and leave it informative. Don't clutter the message. Additionally, I have well-developed organizational and project management skills, and am able to lead a team. Read Less
