Societal conventions often lead to classifications of an unfair exploitation. Subjects such as gender, sex, superficiality, and equality are examples of this. Both acknowledging and amplifying the gray area of these black and white categories produces a confrontation. This isolation of specific subjects becomes a platform for which to re-examine the need for classification and eradicate the fear often created by it. Painting and sculpture mirror this conceptual conviction by transforming traditional mediums with a contemporary approach. The human figure is a subject that bonds these truths while exposing the disconnect between idea and reality.
