Monstruo is a young photography studio created by Paula Penise & Diego Toledo; based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

From an early age, we feel attracted to art, knowing that this would guide our lives. Our parents surrounded us with visual stimulus and music such as Vivaldi, Metallica, Michael Jackson, National Geographic, Vogue, Gundams, typography, Paints, Tunnels, Trains, Airports, Ninja Turtles, Jem, Nintendo 8 and 16 bits; just to name a few.
We grew up obsessed with film, music, books, artwork, animated series and toys, which helped fuel this passion almost without realizing it.
Nowadays, we are able to identify, and respect, every source of creative inspiration. The evolution of our motivations allows ideas to expand beyond what we could ever imagine.
For us, there is no life without music; we believe it is an essential complement for the creative process.
We were fortunate to meet some music and fashion icons, wich let us acknowledge a lot of those worlds. The time we spent with them and the opportunity to work side by side, gave us knowledge and experience.
This is one of the reasons we decided to specialize in fashion and rock photography.
As designers we understand that design is only one side of the cube, but we believe that multitasking is a field where design is intrinsically linked to other creative expressions such as photography, music and art.
Beyond what we learned at the university, it is important to focus on a personal multiperspective search, to guide the creative process. This training and continuing interest and education let us create Monstruo.
Our way of seeing the world, live and create as designers and photographers, made our own identification.
We developed a work method which enables us to feel comfortable with the teamwork and the relations, that is the base of our work.
This steps to a professional life are not easy but we are enjoying every minute them. We don't forget where we came from and where we want to go.
