You're probably familiar with Michael Doret's work without even knowing it. If you've seen his logo for the NY Knicks or one of his many Time covers then you're familiar with the power and dynamism he has brought to the art of hand-lettering for many years. The inspiration for his work has come from such diverse sources as matchbook covers, theater marquees, enamel signs, early and mid-20th century packaging, and various other American artifacts. Michael is an eight-time winner of the New York Art Directors Club Silver Award. Alphabet Soup Type Founders is the foundry name under which letterforms artist Michael Doret releases his fonts. He believes that having had extensive experience in the illustration, design and advertising arenas separates him from other font designers. By creating and releasing his designs through Alphabet Soup he is attempting to bring a very different perspective to the art of font design from that of most other foundries. Bringing his experience of making art with letterforms to bear on font design, he hopes to create a collection of fonts that share the same aesthetic, energy and unique qualities as the lettering and design work that he has become known for.
