Evolution Wall

The Hendrix Life Map is a 26-foot wide interactive wall that acts as the central storytelling component for the exhibit "Jimi Hendrix: An Evolution of Sound" at Experience Music Project in Seattle. The installation tracks the influences and inspirations of Jimi's development as an artist. It features media screens, button activated audio, a timeline with main historical and social events, reproduction of images and real artifacts from the period and that belonged to Jimi Hendrix protected in plexiglass cases. Backed by a massive collage of images from a live Band of Gypsys performance, each section overlaps the next to show how they all collectively influenced the Jimi Hendrix sound.
Credits: Art Direction (Gabe Kean). Curatorial work by Jacob McMurray.

"The story of Belle and Wissell: How It All Began"

The Story Kit brings to life the studio's namesake through the story and illustrated characters of Belle and Mr. Wissell. We developed a set of print materials, artifacts and a complementary window display to deliver the storyline. The Story Kit was produced as a limited edition (250 copies) promotional piece and it includes a story notebook, illustrated plates, Mr.Wissell laboratory goggles, a letterpressed poster, a airmail letter and envelope and a colophon signature card signed by the members of the studio. Each kit is signed and numbered. Featured artists are Carmela D'Amico (story) and Steven D'Amico (art and illustrations), the creators of the Ella books. The kit can be purchased on Etsy.

The Story Window components included hand-painted artwork, mechanical moving parts, an animated story kiosk, rear-projected motion graphics, and a heart-warming soundtrack. It features fabrication art by Sven Sundbaum, animations by Aaron Hedquist and it was part of a unveiling event and an alluring holiday attraction for the Seattle community.

Accidents Will Happen

"Accidents Will Happen: Stories from Rock Photography" is an experimental exhibition that focuses on the process and happenstance of being a rock photographer. The show features work by Charles Peterson, Curt Doughty, Lance Mercer, David Belisle, Morgan Keuler, and Jini Dellaccio. The exhibition is made up of narratives for each section, projected media, a light table interactive, and a documentary that highlights the artists involved. The project was part of my collaboration with the Belle and Wissell studio and it also includes motion graphics by Aaron Hedquist, and curatorial work by Marq Dean, Curt Doughty, Gabe Kean, and Jacob McMurray.
