The symbol's components are the first letter of Hebrew alphabet: Aleph which is a combination of feather and shofar.Shofar includes the image of pomegranate. Alehp is the first letter of the organization leader's name and it also represents social publicism which is the main stream of Maof's activity.

The symbol is a cat which is a common habitant of Haifa's streets. The cat symbolizes the community longing for independency and the pomegranate the ambition for self management and self defence.
