1989 - International Greeting Cards - Classico

This project ended up being the real instigator in my artistic life. Having the 10-card line chosen by Classico was ONE cool thing, but to have the set placed internationally with the Target stores was yet another. I had two quarters of really excellent royalties. Then Target quit contracts with the small card houses, and went with two or three of their major suppliers. Okay, it was brief. But a huge rocket flare in the night! After several years of success with book publishers, national brand sportswear, and some well-known Denver entities... it was this medium and this national exposure that revved my motor. And in subsequent years, in taking the designs into the digital world, I realized what power this process was!

2005-2006 - The Elance.com Years - I Survived

Elance.com was the beginning of my freelance journey online. I'd freelanced for many years in the brick and mortar world as well as digitally for select clients, and in 2004 I started with the online Freelance sites. Elance is a very difficult environment. I achieved a 'select' status and had much success. On the other hand, I didn't have a life. lol. Having survived this, it did ultimately make me a much better freelancer.
1985-1994 - Companies & Branding

Over the years, I have designed for many companies - mostly Colorado, but also New Mexico, Arizona, Missouri, and various countries globally. These are just a few of the examples from my early years, 1980s and 1990s. From long ago, I focused on a company's BRAND, although back then, the word wasn't widely used and I didn't call it that. From product design, to book cover design, to Website design, you must present a unique, customized presence to the world, or run the risk of being "just there," but not "find-able" !!

1972-1985 - Oils On Canvas

From 1972 to the mid-1980s, I did a lot of work in oils. These four examples are only the tip of the iceberg. Most of my oil works were large format... a few were wall-sized. I love oil; it is my favorite medium. But I soaked up enough of the elements including turpentine, that I am allergic. Or worse, these elements are stored in the liver. Acrylics just don't have the life, for me. But mixed media does, and that's where I went...

1980s Beginnings

In the early 1980s, my first children's book was published. By 1986, my second was published... by a large house in California. This all was a realization of my dream since age 16. All I've ever wanted to be was Maurice Sendak in a skirt :-) ... both of these children's books will soon be available as E-Books.
