The Chopping Block is looking for one talented Flash/Flex Developer to assist the troops in a fast-paced studio environment. Interested individuals should be driven, quick-witted, even-tempered, and ruthlessly efficient. This is an incredible opportunity; confidence backed up by competence and experience is a must. NOTE : While we are looking ideally for a full time candidate, FREELANCE applications are welcome as we are also trying to expand our Flash Freelancer references. We have several jobs a year that go to outside developers and we have gone and busied up all our existing freelancers!
Responsibilities Include:
- Building dynamically driven ActionScript
3 based Flash projects that often integrate with server-side
applications and content management systems.
- Collaborating with designers to develop kick-ass transitions, animations and event handling systems in Flash.
- Driving the technical foundations of the studio forward, learning/implementing Flex & AIR and whatever else matters.
- Solving problems and obsessing over technical challenges.
- Working with project teams and clients to envision, develop and deploy memorable & well-made projects.
- Playing Mario Kart, Halo, and flying RC Helicopters in the conference room.
Required:
- 2+ years of proven interactive development experience.
- Solid awareness of online technologies and languages XHTML, XML, CSS, PHP, ASP, JavaScript, etc...

Solid understanding of the concepts behind object oriented programming
and experience implementing OOP concepts with ActionScript.
- Strong
communication skills (both in person and in writing), the ability to
educate clients and peers as to the workings and logic behind sometimes
complex technical internet thingy’s.
- Creative background and/or extreme respect of the creative process and the power of brilliant graphic design.
Desired:
- Experience developing in additional languages: Flex, Java, PHP, MySQL, Ruby (on rails), XHTML, XSLT, CSS, etc...
- Comfort being the technical lead on a project, managing production artists and occasionally designers.
- Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Fireworks experience a plus.
- Being a champion for the cause of graphic design and good usability practices.
