Architecture exists as the physical structure for our lives. It contains and orders our daily life and our past histories. At the simplest level, we are warm or cold because of it. At its most complex, cultural and political philosophies are designed directly into it. Architecture has the power to inform how we live and experience our lives. What happens in the space between architecture and our stories? How is our experience of the city influenced by history and architecture?

In that ephemeral space, the space between the physical reality of our buildings and our experience of those places, a transitory city exists. One that is created moment by moment. Written by the height of the sun,the geometry of materials, the strength of the wind and the velocity of history.

This seemingly invisible city is what I seek to document. Capturing that transitory moment illustrates a slippery space that may actually be a private line in someone else's poem. The moment then becomes a two dimensional image which represents a slice through time. It is, in fact, recording a greater history, not immediately seen, but present in the weight of the moment that the shutter snapped. Line by line, image by image, they write the story of a city that exists beyond and because of architecture. Read Less
