Started drawing comics at a young age. His earliest job was in the 1st Grade, drawing cartoon heroes for his classmates in exchange for A-team trading cards. At the age of ten he saw a documentary about the rise of graffiti in Amsterdam. It was then that he started doing graffiti, and developed a love for letters and typography. At the same time, he continued collecting comics, kicking around on his skateboard, and listening mainly to Hip Hop.

After High School, he ended up on the Amsterdam Design College. Although at first he had wanted to be a visualizer, his love for graphic design slowly grew, and he found himself inspired by Dept (currently Machine), 75 B, Dick Bruna and Niels “Shoe” Meulman. Next up were three years at Fort Knox Graphic Designers to put everything he had learned into practice. It was there that he learned how to handle a Mac and the fact that not every design would be an immediate success.

Years went by. The experience and knowledge expanded. After having spent a few years working for a number of advertising agencies, Jeroen is now a freelancer under the name of Jeroen Huijbregts Graphic Design in his studio Kinkerzooi located on the Kinkerstraat in Amsterdam.

Apart from graphic design and illustrating, Jeroen’s interests include watching movies, the expanding of and listening to his music collection, visiting concerts, reading, philosophy and riding his Fixed Gear. Read Less
