Building is culture. What we build both shapes and speaks of us. Our buildings and landscapes reflect our values, our objectives, our tools, and our relationship to the resources of this world. Architecture is the stewardship of that connection between humanity and our built environments and should reach to reflect the very best of our cultures and our time.
Timeless and Resonant architecture grows out of a thoughtful, rich and engaging design process. A process of research, attempt, discovery, questioning, and resolution. Predetermined solutions miss the mark, because they assume rather than discover, and are closed to solutions that might have been simply because they were unknown before. The process of design is indispensable to the results. Socrates said it best:
"There is no solution, seek it lovingly."
This is a foundational truth in architecture. For unlike a rigid or linear science there is no single correct answer to a design problem. All "right" answers however, are always deeply rooted in the right questions. Read Less
