Back when I was shooting film and printing in the darkroom, my wife and I decided to spend a month camping and shooting in Acadia National Park in Maine (she paints from her shots). The innovation was that I pre-sold purchases of work resulting from the project. Pledgees attended an exhibit and reception a few months after our return, to make their selections. The result was a really nice show, a fantastic reception and a portfolio that has served me well ever since. It's a formula that I have used again since then, and one that I am surprised not to see more often.

Originally the prints were all the same size (about 14x18) and printed the old fashioned way, using an enlarger. There were 40 of them. For the project I carried a 120 format camera armed with normal and w/a lenses. For the odd telephoto shots, I used 35mm with a 300 lens.

The negatives have been wet-scanned before applying darkroom notes, in photoshop, to achieve similar results. Sizes vary somewhat and there are about 26 images. Details about the work can be found on my site: www.jamescraigphotography.com
