My name is Jacob Bloom. I am 22years old and I am from Okinawa, Japan. I lived on 18th Wing Kadena Air Force Base. The base was built and established after WWII in 1945 and is the largest Air Force base in the Pacific. Schools were on-base and provided me with the technology and learning to support me in the future. One of these learning experiences would be Adobe Photoshop 1. This class was when I was introduced to Photoshop. This class was the best thing ever. I was able to really explore my creative horizons and let out my creative demon to show the world my potential. This was in the form of switching heads of people, making fire burn behind me, creating my own custom cars, and even some for revenge! I would hold this love for the program inside as I moved from Okinawa to the United States for the first time. I lived on “the rock” as we call in Okinawa for 18 years before I moved to the states; Portland, Oregon, to pursue my degree in a Bachelors of Science, majoring in Community Health Education. I would go to school and on the side do projects for outreach for universities’ student housing on events and outreach programs. This would help me successfully land a position at Portland state’s Center of Student Health and Services as an intern the online wellness magazine.
