BLACK GHOSTS Music Video (Director)

Set to The Black Ghosts' single 'Don't Cry', the film follows an ominous Night Angel who appears on a snowy hilltop overlooking Moscow. She morphs from animation into live-action as she moves through the surreal urban landscape, drawn to a beacon of light at the center of the city... Combining black & white animation, desaturated Super 16mm, and archival moving x-ray footage, the aesthetic is gritty, organic and otherworldly, inspired by the dark mood of the track. The Black Ghosts are a new British electronica group that unites Simian's Simon Lord with Theo Keating of The Wiseguys. Their self-titled first album will be released in Spring 2008 by Southern Fried Records. This film is part of a worldwide art project curated by the creative firm CULT-GEIST, which commissioned an international slate of filmmakers to make 10 short films inspired by 10 different songs in 10 different cities around the world, including New York, London, Berlin, Mexico City, and Moscow.

A 16mm short film about a society reshaped by fear and destruction in the near future. Nick tries to go about his daily life in a broken down urban landscape, safe-proofing rooms against airborne threat, but feels numb to both himself and the new reality of the world. His own fears play-out in the fragmented images that fill his dreams as he searches for a way to navigate his isolation.

A short documentary on the Ojibwe Native Americans of Northern Minnesota and the wild rice (manoomin) they consider to be a sacred gift from the Creator. The film tells the Creation and Migration stories that are central to the tribe's oral history and belief system while showing the traditional process of hand-harvesting and parching the wild rice. Biotech companies are currently researching ways to genetically modify the rice and the community is fighting to keep it wild.
