My work is a bi-product of enthusiasm. I work responsively because I find joy and energy in yielding partial control to a warping piece of palette wood, an unruly old brush, or a musician with whom I am collaborating. Many of my models for working responsively come from the natural world; From the way that a root system curls around a rock, or water finds the path of least resistance through different soil densities. I collaborate with the people and materials around me because I find energy in the imperfect translations and feedback loops that evolve in the process.
