As long as I can remember, the issues of perception, interpretation, and the uncertainties of reality have troubled me. For years, severe depression and shyness isolated me and greatly affected my view of the world. I felt distant and disconnected, and the world never quite felt real. My struggles eventually developed into a preoccupation with the idea of an internal existence versus an external existence. The pain and confusion that I felt formed into a fixation with the nature of time and death.
Though these insecurities and anxieties persist, they are now directed into my creative pursuits. My work is how I deal with these issues and sort out the accompanying emotions. My images use subtle manipulations, frame-to-frame relationships, and the nature of photography itself to explore the issues of perception and interpretation, reality and existence, and time and death.
