Born and raised in Jupiter, FL; home to beaches and a small town atmosphere. I was exposed to many different forms of art and designs. My father has a background in architecture and structure engineering. Many blue prints came home, before the time of computers, and I watch as he began to change and design them better and up to code. "Borrowing" like children do, I used his drafting tools to create my version of what I saw as what he had done. Later this became an everyday habit and I got my own tools. Since I am from a big family, my older sisters would read me books and stories with pictures of different styles and variations. This gave way to absorb most of the starting likes and dislikes of art. My nanas' and grandmothers would ask me to draw other things that where from picture books to photos as I got older. Before I knew it, it was what I was known by. I would not be seen without a sketch book or a pad to draw when I wanted to. In high school I met other talented artists & teachers, exposing me to a wider band of mediums that has made up my comedic and somewhat dark eclectic style of illustration.
Being influenced by Japanese and Chinese block prints to Mexican Sugar Skulls to the Art Deco era has created my current illustration style, but does not limit me. It is because I had these influences that pushed me forward, to study art & design in college. Since most of my greatest influences had been graphic illustrators, commercial artist, and graphic designers, I followed the same route as them. My illustrations are done far differently then my graphic design work. Although I love when I get the chance to combine them, but simple and clean can be the greatest way to achieve what I have to do in my graphic work.
After I had finished schooling, I ended up working off and on for various companies. Mainly logo and branding design for either established businesses that needed a logo or ones who wanted to revamp their current logo. Moving from Jupiter, FL in April 2011 to Colorado Springs, CO was a big leap and has provided better insight to the work I have done. I am currently working as a freelance artist and selling prints of my work in Colorado. Read Less
