Good use of Type. But I think that the categories area looks out of the place... Might be just me.

choice of typography is great for the word "rework forum", and yes globe sketch is really attractive. how about dark earthly background instead of cream in the bottom.

This is really good one. I too would like to see the categories section more as per upper theme like categories text and title can be made as the one you have used above and borders of categories can be like the border of the world above and lastly the images inside the categories box will make it more visually appealing...

This is a sound start just add more color to the template by making borders around the sub boxes and actual pictures of what they represent...i.e. water should be a photo of water.
