The project 'Von A nach Z' was made for the 33pt. Symposium in
Dortmund. Our goal was to start with nothing and arrive with the 26
letters of the alphabet. Because it is a journey of 2 hours, we decided
to drive only on secondairy roads and void the Autobahn.
The shape of the font is a stencil version of the DIN Black (because of
its relationship with the German motorway signs). The font is cut from
black plastic garbagebags and stuck to the windshield of our car.

Each 8km we replaced the 'A' for the 'B', then 'B' for the 'C', etc., so we literally drove 'Von A nach Z'. We used a video camera to document the shape and behavior of each letter. We have decided to travel by night. The mysterious and surprising shapes that are created by the carlights, neon signs, etc., are the elements which we seek and which characterise the letters.
