UTZ CERTIFIED is a fast growing non-profit organisation that was originally founded to make the Coffee Supply Chain more sustainable.
In 2007, Palm Oil was added to their product portfolio. The project consists of an infographics style animation that was used during the 5th Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Conference, held on the 20-22 November, 2007, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The animation was used to explain the relationship between RSPO and UTZ CERTIFIED, especially in relation to the complete supply chain.
 
First of all we had to find an effective manner to communicate the concept of certified palm oil distribution using mass balanced principles. This was a real challenge because this concept is rather abstract. In order to make things as clear as possible a very minimalist graphic style was chosen. In little more than three weeks a team of three people worked from the initial briefing towards the final version of the animation.
 
 
The animation succeeded in giving the UTZ CERTIFIED presentation a strong boost by making the abstract concepts of certification in the Palm Oil industry more tangible. Besides  the animation we also built a flash demonstration of the IT systems. This demonstration was an extension to the UTZ CERTIFIED introduction.
