LED-based traffic light concept.

It requires 3 times less details than the common traffic light since it uses just one section instead of three. It also operates with just two kinds of single colored LEDs - the yellow color is a result of both red and green ones lit together.

Actually there is a reason why there are three lights. the problem is in the sequence, its not the same order when it goes from green to red and from red to green. Take a closer look. One sequence involves yellow light to be lit on its own, and other sequence combines yellow with other color at the same time. (otherways you would have no clue if the green light or red is coming after the yellow, if you are at high speed reaching the traffic light..) other than that, great concept really, good thinking. Very cool in terms of design. You would have to figure out a way for color blind people to use it. I think this is one of the reasons the three light system hasn't changed.

great but the idea of having three lights means that besides the color you see the position. Colorblind people can't see if it's green or yellow, but they can see perfectly if it's the top ot the bottom light that's on.
