Description
Theater poster for "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. In an Art Nouveau style, where the woman's hair and head become an oak tree. A mockingbird pecks at a stopwatch in her head. Symbolizes the loss of innocence and the passing of time. Digital painting that is also influenced by Realism and Surrealism.
  • Mockingbird Poster / $6.00
  • A hypothetical poster for a college play based on the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird." I wanted to use the main symbolic elements in the story differently than past illustrators. I imagined Scout (the main character) as an older woman, who has grown out of her "tomboy" phase. Her long hair becomes a part of the oak tree that she treasured as a child. The mockingbird is pecking away at the pocketwatch, signaling the passing of time and innocence. I used warm colors to give it a summery feel. I hand lettered the title, it was based on an Art Deco font. Available for sale in Photoshop format on http://graphicleftovers.com/graphic/mockingbird-poster-358/
