While the people of Tibet suffer immensely under China's heel, this is a struggle not only for personal freedom, but for cultural and spiritual freedom as well. In an increasingly consumer-based global community, nations such as Tibet stand out as cultural sanctuaries which should be encouraged and respected as peoples with not only a rich history, but more importantly, an inspiring vision for the future. Tibet's struggle for independence is a struggle to keep herself from drowning in a quickly expanding society with a clear lack of respect for diversity. Tibet is a beautiful, creative nation "full of beautiful, creative men and women" stifled by censorship, drowning in her own blood. Her screams for help may be muffled, but how can we ignore them?
